Credit Policy

When it comes to internationalization, most developers are dead in the water without an international team of translators. And while services exist to help developers get their programs translated, open source software and often even commercial services are translated by volunteers. As an invaluable part of product development, volunteer translators take hours to interpret out-of-context phrases for the benefit of the international community.

Our Translator Credit Policy attempts to address aspects of translator recognition by creating a clear understanding between translator and developer. Translators and developers will both know where and how recognition will be given to translators for their work.

The Guidelines

  • Translator credit will be given to translators who have contributed a significant amount. (generally between 35% and 40%).
  • Translator credits will be automatically evaluated and made available to developers when translated code is downloaded.
  • Credits must be publicly viewable within two clicks of the program's opening page.
